Do You Believe in Miracles? Duke Plays Duke, Wins

DURHAM, NC––In this year’s highly anticipated “Countdown to Craziness” exhibition match, Duke overcame the odds to beat the rival Duke team, winning the match in a dramatic style. In a moment reminiscent of the 1980 Winter Olympics Soviet Union vs USA men’s ice hockey game, the underdog Duke team game from behind to surge past the reigning champion Duke team in a buzzer beater. “This was a real David and Goliath situation,” said Duke Men’s Basketball Head coach Jon Scheyer. “I am really proud of the team for putting everything they had on the court.”

Students streamed onto the court after the final buzzer, pushing aside Duke players to reach the victorious Duke players. Meanwhile, dismayed fans wearing devil horns filed out of the stadium solemnly, with grumbles regarding play-calling by new head coach Jon Scheyer. “Duke bleeds blue and breeds championships,” said Stacy Mildew (Trinity ‘25), an avid Duke Basketball fan. “I am so excited to see how far we will go this season.”

Following the game, police reported a Duke fan attacking a rival Duke fan.
